Vredenburg, Utrecht, June 22 2005, Exclusive Preview Eagles Farewell I Tour Live from MelbourneTranslation of DVD.nl's Preview Summary For the original Dutch text, and pictures from the event, click here. Thanks for the translation, Susanne! In Vredenburg, Utrecht, a small group of about 150-200 people (press and prize-winners from Radio2 and Bol.com) were able to be at the preview of the new Eagles DVD Farewell I tour "Live in Melbourne". One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of the Eagles' bassist AND singer Timothy B. Schmit. The host of the evening was Mr. Ron Stoeltie from Radio2. He introduced Timothy to the audience who gave him a standing ovation. Tim gave a short explanation about the tour. He told about the coming Californian tour from summer till November and after this tour there's a break to celebrate the Holidays. Unfortunately, he could not tell us about their next plans, just because he really didn't know. However he hoped they would be back to The Netherlands for concerts. After we watched the DVD impression for more than one hour (length of the DVD will be 3 hours), Timothy came back on stage to answer a few questions from Radio 2 listeners. RS: Have you been asked to play with The Eagles in 1970? TBS: Yes, I played with Poco those days. I already knew the band members and when they needed a bassist, they asked me and I said "Yes". RS: Can you describe a tour day? TBS: Boring/Dull. Doing a concert costs a lot of energy so we have to take it easy during the day. We eat, we sleep, do some shopping in the town we are in at that moment. So, nothing special and pretty dull. It's not glamorous at all. RS: Your son is playing in a band. What do you think of that? TBS: I'm fine with what they're doing. As long as they keep straight and be happy. My oldest daughter is a songwriter. My second daughter is a painter, studying fine arts and my son is playing in a rock band. If this is what they like, I'm not going to stop them. RS: Do your children play your CD's at home? TBS: No, I hope they are proud of what I'm doing, but for them I'm just Dad. I bring them to school, watch them play sports and take out the trash, just like any other father. RS: All the band members cut their hair. You didn't? TBS: No, very good observation RS: What do think of the continuing popularity of The Eagles? TBS: It's wonderful doing what you like and getting attention and appreciation. And it's even better to also get paid for it. There are already three generations listening to our music, so that must mean something and we hope it will stay like this long after we'll be gone.
After answering a few other questions, the very kind Eagles' bassist got a beautiful bunch of flowers and he will continue his DVD-promotion tour in Germany, London and Spain.
